A fossil head of an enicocephalomorphan (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from England revisited: Identity of the first fossil species of Enicocephalidae from Europe

Abstract

A fossil pyritized head of an enicocephalid from Miocenic London Clay (England: Sheppey Island) is analyzed and owing to its morphology attributed to a neg genus and species Pyrenicocephalus jarzembowskii, gen. et sp. n. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Enicocephalidae). It is a first find of a fossil enicocephalid from Europe.
