Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the regional differences in the level of total fertility rate in the EU countries in years 2005–2007. We tried to analyze these differences together with several factors mapping the situation of women in labour market in each country.

The factors were derived from indicators where correlation with total fertility rate was statistically significant. Authors of this paper focused on indicators describing not only the economic activity of women and their participation on labour market, but also illustrating other possibilities of women – possibility of lifelong learning, utilization of their education on labour market, and possibility of work and family life harmonization.

The performed analysis was based on selected indicators and its output is the basic regionalization of the European Union representing various models of politics and approaches influencing the situation of women on labour market.
