Our study has shown approximately 30-40% inhibition by 0,5 x LD50 GB. The inhibition was statisticaly significant in all parts of CNS.
On the other hand, the level of the inhibition does not reach statistical significance in periferal tissue (diaphragm) using a particular method. In addition, the oxime HI-6 had a low potency to inhibit AChE independent on the concentration.
The reactivation efficacy of HI-6 was evaluated in a range of 4-6%. The small inhibiting efficacy of HI-6 corresponded to our expectation.
This study showed that histochemical examination can be useful in evaluating AChE activity and its changes in the central nervous system but is not suitable to evaluate changes of AChE activity in the diaphragm.
