Hands on approach to area and perimeter.

Abstract

Area and perimeter belong to the fundamental concepts of primary school geometry. The paper offers a set of tasks both for teachers and for pupils.

The tasks come from different manipulative learning environments: wooden sticks, tiling and paper folding. It presumes that the tasks are posed to a class in schema-oriented educational approach.

This approach is briefly described.
