Abstract
Different deformation mechanisms operating during plastic deformation result in different mechanical characteristics and deformation structures. The AFM method makes it possible to investigate the surface of samples strained plastically at different experimental conditions.
It represents a very effective tool for the determination of the deformation mechanism, especially in micro- and submicrocrystalline materials where the resolution of light microscopy is not sufficient.
