Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in psychiatric patients

Abstract

DThe monograph is intended not only to psychiatrists and internal medicine, but also general practitioners and other specialists who are confronted with clinical manifestations of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and its consequences. The authors deal with the latest knowledge on the pathophysiology of VTE, the diagnosis, prevention and treatment, especially in high-risk patients, which includes a number of mentally ill.

The explanation is also the process to be relatively easy to assess the degree of risk of VTE based on scoring system, using anamnestic and clinical data. There are presented the results of own observations and scientific research (prospective study ANTRE - ANtipsychotics, ThRombosis, Embolism) on the etiopathogenesis of VTE in patients with schizophrenia
