Telomere Attrition Occurs during Ex Vivo Expansion of Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells

Abstract

The manuscript describes detailed characteristics of human dental pulp stem cells incl. their kinetics, phenotype and differentiation potential. Despite their large proliferative capacity, stable viability, phenotype, and genotype over prolonged cultivation, the examination of relative telomere length using quantitative PCR performed at different passages confirmed human dental pulp stem cells suffer from progressive telomere shortening over time they replicate in vitro.
