The paper focuses on transnational mobility, contacts crossing borders of the Soviet empire and international actions of non-government actors in Central Europe of the 1960s. It deals with the question how foreign travels of communist youth to Western Europe changed official discourse.
The paper argues that the visible rupture of official discourse during the Prague Spring 1968 was influenced by perception of the Western youths life-style. Moreover, the flourishing trips to Western Europe as well as increasing interactions with representatives of West European Left permanently revised Marxist world view of young generation.
The paper explores yearly reports provided by officials of the international department within Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Youth Union in order to inform communist leadership about international activities of young people.
