Abstract

from the inauguration of Emperor Joseph II to the decline of the Hapsburg Empire in 1918. The authors examine its displays in the whole territory of the Czech Lands and in each single region, in catholic and evangelical background.

The respective chapter concentrates on the activities of five professors of the Czech Theological Faculty in Prague (František X. Kryštůfek, Eugen Kadeřávek, Jan Ladislav Sýkora, Antonín Vřešťál, and Gabriel Pecháček) in their rectorship in the period from 1891 to 1918.

The four faculties of the Prague university took turns in the rectorship regularly. For the first time this tradition was broken in the academic year 1909/1910, when the representative of the Faculty of Arts was elected instead of the Theologian.
