Abstract

The Czech Republic was ranked from demographic perspective among the most developed countries up to the 1960's. Advanced economy inherited from the interbellum period enabled to benefit from that "capital" even at the beginning of the communist regime.

However later on, demographic patterns started being closer to the Eastern European ones and this situation has preserved nowadays.
