Publication at Faculty of Science |

Abstract

Fertility rate dropped in the Czech Republic well below 1.5 live born per woman and during the period of 1995-2004 this indicator was less than 1.3. The percentage of childless women increased as well as the mean age at childbearing.

In addition, the rise of the percentage of extramarital births (born to never married) was observed. Mothers of such children are low educated, younger and primiparas.
