Growth of Norway spruce in different slope aspects along the alpine treeline ecotone, a case study from the Krkonoše Mts.

Abstract

Alpine treeline ecotone is temperature limited vegetation boundary and thus trees growing along this ecotone are extremely sensitive to temperatures. Here, the preliminary results of project focused on evaluation of treeline dynamics are presented.

Study area is situated in the Krkonoše Mts. (Karkonosze, Riesengebirge), which is a mountain range on the border between Czechia and Poland.
