The International Waterbird Census in the Czech Republic in January 2010

Abstract

International Waterbird Census (IWC) was carried out on 617 wetland sites in the Czech Republic in January 2010. In total, 166 212 individuals of 56 waterbird species were counted.

Malard Anas platyrhynchos was recorded as the most frequent and the most abundant waterbird species The Czech maximum in numbers of individuals were found out in Bittern Botaurus stellaris, Red-crested Pochard Netta rufina, Velvet Scoter Mellanitta fusca, Goosander Mergus merganser and White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla during the whole study period in 1966–2010.
