Abstract
The study is a preface to the Czech translation of the work: Joseph Gredt, Grundlagen der aristotelisch-thomistischen Philosophie. It contains a historical scetch of the renewal of the neothomist philosophy in the 19th and 20th centuries and tries to answer the question whether the signifance of Gredts work is only a historical one or whether there is some actual use of it today.
