The Meissen episcopate in the late Middle Ages

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2010

Abstract

The study offers an overview of the evolution of the episcopate in the late Middle Ages, with specific focus on its relation to Bohemia. In the pre-Hussite era, the bishops of Meissen were strongly Prague-oriented.

On the other hand, Meissen has become a strong bastion of anti-Hussite sentiments from the very beginning of the Czech reformation.
