Ultrasound guided laser embryonic reduction of dichorionic triplets in dichorionic twins

Abstract

Triplet pregnancies with a monochorionic component are at a significantly higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcome compared with trichorionic triplets. Interfetal vascular anastomoses in monochorionic placenta prohibit the conventional fetocide technique with intracardiac injection of potassium chloride.

Therefore, in dichorionic triplets, the reduction of a complete monochorionic twin component is usually suggested. In this study we report a new, not yet described, technique of reduction of one embryo of the monochorionic component enabling the reduction of dichorionic-triamniotic triplets in dichorionic twins.
