Abstract
Chapter deals with social policy as one of the public policy area.Social policy is analysed as the theoretical and practical policy, i.e. its values, subject of interests , tools and contemporary trends. In the end of the chapter is analysed the European social policy in relation with the situation in the Czech republic.
