Abstract

The evidence from our studies showed that the most important for appropriate combat preparedness are endurance abilities evaluated by test W170. This test measures the wattage in 170 heart beats per minute.

Body composition variables, BMI and body fat percentage in particular were investigated as well. Moreover fluid intelligence was assessed by Intelligence structure test and intellectual abilities were assessed by EFEKT.

Participants were divided into five categories according to their BMI and body fat percentage. We hypothesize that soldiers who perform better in tests of intelligence and intellectual abilities will have better physical fitness and thus they will have less body fat percentage.

We also assume that five categories will differ in performance in tests W170/kg. The first hypothesis was not confirmed.

There were no statistically significant differences in terms of intellectual abilities and fluid intelligence among five categories.
