Abstract

Diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hyperetnsion has undergone a big progress during last few years. Now echocardiography serves as a main screening method for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.

The authors present a summary of echocardiographic methods for diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hypertension. They focus on the methods on assessment of the presence and severity of pulmonary arterial hypertension, size and function of the right ventricle, and the role of echocardiography in differential diagnosis of the disease leading to pulmonary arterial hypertension.
