Hyperamylasemia of uncertain significance associated with oral double-balloon enteroscopy

Publication |
2007

Abstract

Double-balloon enterocopy (DBE) is still under evaluation, including its yield and safety aspects. A single center prospective study was designed to consider the relationship between DBE and hyperamylasemia. 35 oral DBEs were carried out in 31 patients (17 men, 14 women).

Serum amylase, lipase, CRP and urine amylase were taken before the procedure, 4 and 24 hours after the investigation. Abdominal pain was evaluated using a three-step scale.
