Actinic Cheilitis and its management

Abstract

The article reviewed actinic chelitis (solar keratosis) and its pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnostic aspects and treatment modalities, and prophylactic aspects, as well. Nowadays, the disease is held as the most frequent premalignant lesion of the lip vermilion.

In contrast to similar changer of the oral mucosa, actinic cheilitis is not associated pathogenetically with smoking and alcohol abuse, the main pathogenetic factor seems to be ultraviolet portion of the sunlight.
