Abstract
The paper tries to summarize some aspects of the coexistence of Bohemian towns and the university and to illustrate them by means of two analytical sketches: 1) the statistical analysis of the correspondence of the rector from 1617 to 1622; 2) the personal composition of political elites in Czech towns during the restless years 1624-1636.
