This article is dedicated to the growing number of pupils and students of foreign nationalities and cultures in our schools. It is based on the assumption that the life of foreign pupils is not only affected by practical problems, such as the necessity to master the Czech language.
Their life including their school life is influenced by their personal and family history and different socio-cultural background, which may be not only the source of misunderstanding with the outer society but also within their own families. We assume that we can help these students best through understanding their situation in the first place.
This article is therefore devoted to the circumstances the children and their parents face when they arrive in a new country and how these influence their family relationships, how do they affect the school, and the last but not least question is what we can do in this situation.
