Tackling the growth in international road haulage using economic instruments: A case of the Czech Republic

Publication |
2007

Abstract

The chapter analyses the economic efficiency and legal feasibility of various economic instruments for regulation of the growing road freight transport in the Czech Republic and its negative health and environmental impacts. In our analysis, we focus on the following economic instruments: road tolls, vignettes, vehicle taxes, fuel taxes, and supportive measures.

Because of its environmental effects, we also take into account the Austrian "ecopoint" system.
