Abstract
Several aggregated indicators have been developed for the area of environmental sustainability of which six are introduced in the text: Environmental sustainability index, Dashboard of sustainability, Wellbeing index, Ecological footprint, Living planet index, and Domestic material consumption. The authors suggest an aggregated indicator referred as the geobiosphere burden index (GBI) as a contribution to international efforts to establish an environmental sustainability indicator.
