This article deals with approaches to valuation of forest damage in Czech Republic, namely damage caused by imisions, illegal forest logging and methods used for damage valuation. State-of-the-art and recent development is assessed and main limitation identified - lack of regulatory provisions, inconsistency between different laws, ambiguous and inconsistent terminology and problems with causality proving.
In addition, possible shifts stemming from preparation of transposition of EC Directive on environmental liability with regard to the prevention and remedying of environmental damage are sketch.
