Abstract

The workshop was organised by Charles University Environment Center in cooperation with Environmental Policy Research Center of Free University Berlin and chaired by prof. Moldan who welcomed the participants and emphasised the growing role of economic criteria in evaluation of effectiveness of environment protection.

The next speaker, Milan Scasny, presented research on quantification of external costs of energy production and possibilities for internalisation of these costs. German partners introduced ecological tax reform that was introduced in Germany starting from 1999 that according to models lead to slight decrease of unemployment and grenhouse gases emissions without noticeable effect on GDP.
