Efficiency of Economic Instruments in Passenger Transport. A Case Study of the Czech Republic.

2005

Abstract

In the paper economic and environmental efficiency of existing and potential economic measures in passenger transport in the Czech Republic are assessed and an existence of a triple dividend is discussed. The triple dividend hypothesis for passenger transport enhances improvements of the environment (caused by a modal shift effect towards more environmental friendly modes of transport, better technologies or a decrease of the total transport demand), an increase of fiscal revenues and a decrease of the deficit of public transport (because of a movement of passengers to public transport).
