The presentation shows some preliminary results of an on-going research project conducted in the Czech Republic into the attitudes towards what future non-native teachers of English that are currently studying English as their major subject, consider model(s) and standard(s) of English and how they perceive the notion of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF). An English student profile emerges from the research results serving as a basis for designing a practical English language course at CPE level.
