Abstract
Awarding of the title of licenciate of theology in the Czech Republic is governed by the Czech Universities Act as well as by the canon law, primarily by the constitution Sapientia Christiana. The above-mentioned sets of rules adjust this matter in different ways, so it is difficult to comply with both of them at the same time.
The article describes the differences and presents the way in which the catholic theological faculties in the Czech Republic cope with this question.
