Amino acids binding to Zn2+-cyclen molecular receptor in aqueous solution

Abstract

Amino acids are binded to the [ZnL](2+)-complex (L = cyclen). Stability of the [ZnL(HL_n)](2+) and [ZnL(L_n)](+) ternary complexes and their coordination modes were determined.

The investigation indicates bidentate binding of the deprotonated amino acids through amine and carboxylate functions.
