Myth and Geography. World, Space and Their Understanding in Ancient and Later Cultures

Abstract

The book contains studies of distinguished Czech scholars devoted to a question how people of different times and different cultures apprehended world in the broadest sense of the word: as their vicinage, as a cosmic whole, as a world 'beyond' our world. Basically, in all those various approaches we can distinct two ways of understanding the matter: a way called 'mythic', and a way or method of geography.
