Abstract
The author of this article analyses comics in its connection with visual art, she also writes about its historical development from its early beginnings as sequential art to the first half of the twentieth century, comparing its development with the progress in visual art and introducing the most important authors of the graphic novels and comic books. The author is trying to describe the connection of comics to "higher" art.
