Mathematics education and its changes

Abstract

The article contains a brief survey of the history of mathematics education as a science abroad and points out how it has influenced the Czech mathematics education research. On the example of a concrete PhD Board some prerequisites of a successful existence of mathematics education as an independent discipline are summarised: active researchers in mathematics education, integration into the trends of foreign research, rigorous usage of existing research results, contact with boarder fields, creating a scientific community.
