The use of video in the teaching of mathematics education: Prague experience

Abstract

The chapter aims at the selected aspects of student teachers'' mathematics education which is based on research results from the area of pedagogical content knowledge. They stress, among others, the influence of analyses of textcases and videocases on the teachers'' beliefs and teaching styles.

On the background of the theoretical construct of the ability to notice, a way to develop the teacher''s ability to notice important aspects of a pedagogical situation through the use of appropriate tasks is illustrated.
