Abstract
On background of the theoretical concept "patterns of volunteering" the chapter analyze particular dimensions of the phenomenon in the Czech Republic during socialistic era and outlines two basic "stories" of volunteering development after 1989 ("great and alternative" story of Czech volunteering). Both stories are presented as basic hypotheses of volunteering development which could be verified on empirical data.
