Abstract

Forthcoming two well-known weekly for women and girls - Magazine of Ladies and girls and Star of czechoslovakian ladies and girls are connected to the creation of popular pictorial weekly called Prague illustrated journal and also to Melantrich group. Chief editor Artur Vaňous had established his own publishing house called Family, in which he published Magazine of Ladies and girls.

The idea of publishing a weekly for women emerged in Melantrich publishing house, which started to publish its own weekly about a year after Vaňous. The structure of both weeklies was the same, if not similar.

There were included mostly three novels to continue, it contained also regular columns - for children, diet, recipes, law advice. Essential components were photos or drawings of the latest models.

Magazine of Ladies and girls ceased to be publish at the beginning of the year 1943, Star of czechoslovakian Ladies and girls in May 1945. Magazine of Ladies and girls then published its novels to continue in the famous book series called Red library, which has now become a general symbol of reading for Ladies and girls.
