Abstract
First women photographers started to appear quite late, at the beginning of twentieth century in Unites State. During the thirties their picture started to fill pages of the most famous picture magazine.
Since these times women photographers entered even the most masculine photographic genres as is war photography. The aim of this paper is to shortly map beginnings of women photographers, the main emphasis is put to traditional female conflict of roles - being professional photographer or being mother and wife.
