Abstract
The chapter draws the attention to three major obstacles which hinder (or even reverse) the positive impacts of migration on development. In the first part, the current trend of securitization of migration is presented together with the negative impacts it has on the developmental potential of migration.
In the second part, trafficking in human beings is discussed vrom the perspective of development. Finally, the attention is driven to the adverse effects of large development projects.
