Several azaphthalocyanines containing different number of peripheral azide groups were synthesized and characterized. Azide groups are highly sutable for future modification using "click" chemistry.

Photophysical and photochemical measurements showed prospective properties for these compounds to become suitable photosensitizers for photodyamic therapy.
