Relic of paganism at the Slavs : etymology in the school

Abstract

The article focuses on the two words: vampire and werewolf. In the 9th century Christianity started grow up in Great Moravia, but several pagan''s habit continued in everyday life.

Especially the faith in vampire and werewolf was strong. In school or university is very important to combine several aspects and approach, how to make a lessons more interesting.

The article shows possibility of combining mythological, historical and etymological aspects in the hight-school or university classes. Etymology of word vampire is based on two possible Proto-Slavic language words; werewolf (vlkodlak) is composite of wolf (vlk) and dlaka (which means fur).
