The letters of Jakub Deml to Matěj Fencl

Abstract

This thesis presents an annotated edition of letters by Jakub Deml (1878-1961). These letters contributes to the knowledge of named poet and priest life and work in early period of his work, specifically during the years 1905 and 1912.

At that time he held office as clerical administrator in various parishes in Moravia and also worked together with Josef Florian (1873-1941) on publishing book series named Studium in Stará Řiše. In the correspondence with priest, translator and collaborator of Studium Matěj Fencl (1877-1949) are recorded dramatic stories of Deml''s life at that time.

The correspondence also contains important themes of Deml''s future work. Matěj Florian is as recipient of Deml''s letters presented in the introductory annotation of edition.

In the edition are also included Matej Fencl''s survived letters
