Novotny's Leadership and the Attempt to Reform the Warsaw Pact in the 1960's

Abstract

Text plots the approach of Czechoslovak Antonin Novotny''s leadership to the Soviet proposal to reform the Warsaw Pact in the second half of 1960's. It analyzes primarily CSSR's opinion on the key political and military issues which occurred after 1966 in connection with opening the question of Warsaw Treaty Organization's future.

Article is based mainly on documents of Czech National Archive and author''s broader research.
