Abstract

The article deals with the influence of inhalation of concentrated oxygen on short - term repeated performance in a special basketball test and during the regeneration. We used the doubled blind experiment.

Subjects (n = 8) went through two testing where we depicted successes and the number of throws to the basket. During six minutes long pause between tests subjects inhalated either Oxyfit or placebo.

The source of concentrated oxygen was Oxyfit, which contains 99.5 % of oxygen, or placebo in the same package. The study did not show any effect of concentrated oxygen on the success and the number of throws to the basket because the special basketball test was not reliable.

But it significantly proved (p{0.05) the positive effect of inhalation of concentrated oxygen on lowering of heart frequency (cca. 11 %) and the level of lactate in the blood after the performance (cca. 25 %).
