Abstract
The text argues for more theoretically nuanced approaches to sexual harassment. In particular, we claim, sexual harassment cannot be adequately understood without gender and theories of gender order.
The in present dominant definitions of SH posit sexuality and gender as separate categories, where sexuality (often essentialized as a natural drive) precedes gender. Discussing specifically SH in relation to college and university contexts, we attempt to highlight how gender and understanding of the heteronormative gender order and forms of masculine dominance allows to surpass the mainstays of the debates.
Related specifically to the Czech context, our gender analysis of SH undermines the arguments about the supposedly individual decisions and choices that the (female) students enjoy in responding to sexualised behaviour of faculty and the university staff.
