Abstract
Paper is focused on brief description of establishment of regions within the public administration reform in 1990s. In addition to information on very establishment of regions, the paper contains an overview of all constitutional bills on the establishment of higher self-governing units, as well as overview of key legislation related to regional system and, finally, data concerning comparison of regions.
Historical overview of regions in the Czech Republic, or more precisely in Czechoslovakia, is also included in the paper.
