Abstract
Life in Karviná - city in Czech part of Teschen / Cieszyn Silesia build up on land registers of several municipalities - shows importance of temporal embededdness of their relationship to the inhabited place. Temporality of the city, embedded in names of public places, is weighted up by different ideological meanings, continuously modified by inhabitants of the place.
Study of city-lexical-systems is thus also study of meaning constructions, inscribed by the places by citizens.
