In the conference contribution the attention was paid to not so well known plays by British female playwrights that dramatize mostly exclusively the disempowerment of women under Thatcherism. Moreover, the way empowerment and disempowerment are performed in the plays (e.g.
Ripen our Darkness, The Madness of Esme and Shaz) by Sarah Daniels was analyzed; thus, the theory of performativity was used as a tool and it was also briefly introduced.
