The first introductory part of the text deals with the classification of heroines in epical narratives, steming mainly from the theoretical schemes of Annis Pratt, Helene Cixous (applied on the Indian literary context) and Renate Syed. The second analytical part concentrates on modern Bengali lyrics written by male authors.
On text examples it brings a scheme of the following basic categories: woman as symbol, woman as nature mataphor or metonymy, particularized woman and demystified woman. The final graphic scheme suggests the overlapping with the model categories of the epical narratives.
