Abstract
Conference "Cultural studies through gender glasses" took place at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, on 7th November 2011. This conference was organized by Department of Cultural Studies - Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Charles University.
Over sixty students, teachers and experts attended this conference. Its aim was to introduce the study of human society and culture from a gender perspective.
However gender issues are not explicitly taught by Department of Cultural Studies, strong interest of the students in this issue was surprising. Fourteen experts from different academic and public institutions presented gender issue from different perspectives.
The main focus of the conference consisted in gender aspects of cultural studies and cultural anthropology, however because of interdisciplinary character of gender research the conference was also related to biology, sociology, feminist methodology and media studies.
